Machinery Defense turns tower upgrades into temporary overclocking
PoplarTower replaces permanent tower upgrades with timed overclocking: spend resources and usually more energy for a temporary boost. Ore mines fund construction; solar cells and generators supply power. Prisms split lasers, magnets strengthen metal projectiles, and wet enemies take more electrical damage while resisting burning. Positioning, combinations and timing are tied together.
The early-access statement lists 27 towers, 18 enemy types and 15 maps currently available. More than 30 towers, 20 enemies and 20 maps are full-release plans. For lightweight tower-defence design, the useful idea is the immediate choice between steady output and spending energy to survive a difficult wave.

BitWise makes a solved circuit into the next puzzle’s component
Faint Current starts its circuit puzzles with lighting a lamp, then lets completed circuits become reusable chips. Gates become adders, latches and counters; previous solutions become tools for later problems. Progress is something the player can actually build with.
The developer describes functional grading rather than one prescribed wiring solution, with voltage probes, waveform inspection and layered hints. It advertises 238 levels, a sandbox, an editor and Workshop sharing, with mouse-only control across the levels. The design lesson is the progression from learning a component to composing with it. A lightweight interpretation would focus on a few digital-logic rules and clear feedback rather than copying the full simulator and editor.
