MDN Web Audio: map the sound path first

Documentation for checking sources, volume nodes and output connections, and for understanding an audio system's basic parts.

Sources and sampling notes

Official documentation

When to open it

If a sound exists but produces no output, or several sources need shared volume control, check the audio graph: which processing nodes does each source enter, and does it reach an output? MDN's Web Audio documentation explains AudioContext, AudioNode, GainNode and related interfaces.

Alongside project cases

For audio-recovery problems, check media playback and audio-node state separately. Documentation establishes an API's responsibility. A compatibility table alone cannot establish that a particular phone host or ad-return path works.

Choosing an approach

Long background music, short sound effects and strict rhythm-game timing have different needs. Choose an architecture before looking up interfaces; a simple player does not need every available API. Link checked: October 4, 2026.
